About the Election Committee

In September, 2000, the USGenWeb Advisory Board appointed a special committee, the Election Study Committee (ESC), to study and make recommendations about the election process within The USGenWeb Project. In November, 2000, the report of the Election Study Committee was accepted in its entirety by the Advisory Board, and the recommendations were implemented.

The first slate of EC Members was confirmed by the Advisory Board in January, 2001. In late January, 2001, the Advisory Board approved the Election Committee Procedures (aka Election Committee Guidelines.)

The USGenWeb Election Committee is a standing committee of The USGenWeb Project which operates according to the Election Committee Procedures.

The EC is charged with conducting the National Election each summer, but we also conduct appropriate polls and SC elections upon request, and as we can work them in.

In order to facilitate the elections, we must maintain a project wide Membership List and Registered Voter List. This dataset is known as Oversight.
