Report of the Election Committee 2005

Second Quarter, 2005
APRIL - 2005: A request
for second quarter updates was sent
to all State Coordinators
and follow-up reminders were sent
two weeks later. Committee
members worked throughout the
month to update the membership
list and send registration
information to all new
members. The registered list was
continually updated in
preparation for the election.
The Election Committee
was contacted by the OHGenWeb Project
to conduct its State
Coordinator Election. After extensive
discussion with the OHGenWeb
leadership, the Election
Committee declined to
conduct the election. The election was
subsequently handled
by OHGenWeb Project volunteers and
Sandra Quinn was elected
State Coordinator.
The Election Committee
was contacted by ARGenWeb Project to
conduct its State Coordinator
Election. The Election
Committee conducted this
election and Betsy Mills was
declared the winner in
early May 2005.
The Election Committee
issued a project-wide announcement of
the registration period
for the upcoming National elections.
The Election committee
submitted a potential slate of new
Election Committee members
to the Advisory Board. That slate
was accepted on April
25, 2005.
MAY - 2005: Committee
members were assigned additional
positions to cover positions
left vacant by resignations.
Committee members worked
to verify all new registrations
during the month to prepare
the final registered list to be
used to issue passwords.
The Election Committee
issued a call for temporary
volunteers to assist
in the upcoming National Election
period. No temporary
volunteers were seated.
The Election Committee
issued two project-wide reminders of
the need to register
for the upcoming National Election.
The Advisory Board notified
the Election Committee that a
state-sponsored Bylaws
amendment would be included on the
national ballot.
The Election Committee
made a project-wide announcement of
the upcoming nomination
period for Nationals. A final
reminder was sent on
May 30, 2005.
JUNE - 2005: The Voter
list was frozen in accordance with EC
Guidelines, and remained
frozen until the conclusion of the
election with the exception
of updating email addresses and
making other corrections.
The opening of the Nominations
period was announced on June
1, 2005, and the EC began
accepting nominations. The
Nomination Period ran
from Wednesday, June 1, 2005 12:01 AM
CST through Tuesday,
June 14, 2005 11:59 PM CST.
A final project-wide reminder
of the nomination period was
issued on June 12, 2005.
Eighty-eight nominations
were received and processed during
the nomination period.
A candidates' page was
maintained throughout the nomination
period to inform members
of all nominations.
On June 29 a project-wide
announcement was issued providing
information about voting
and the issuance of passwords.
